Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is the coordinating organisation of APPFlow. QUB is a research-intensive university based in Belfast, United Kingdom and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of Universities. These universities have a significant impact on life in the UK and across the world and Russell Group membership is a hallmark of quality.

QUB excels at exploiting research and collaborating with industrial partners and it is one of the top three Russell Group universities for intellectual property commercialisation, and has created over 70 spin-out companies. In the last ten years there has been significant investment into facilities at QUB, with relevant examples being the McClay Library and the Graduate School. In the case of the Graduate School, this will provide a wide range of outstanding training opportunities for APPFlow ESRs.

The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is the only combined School in the United Kingdom and as such allows for unparalleled interaction and collaboration between chemists and chemical engineers. The School is well-equipped and has research strengths in catalysis, organic chemistry and reaction engineering. Indeed, APPFlow academic supervisors have experience of developing continuous flow processes, including those involving industrial collaborations and they are therefore, well placed to support the ESRs in their research and deliver the objectives of APPFlow.
